These days young people watch a lot of shows on television. Two shows that have many teens abuzz on weeknights are ‘Scandal’ and ‘The Haves and Have Nots.’”

“Scandal,” product of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” creator Shonda Rhimes, is a Washington, D.C.-based political drama that airs on ABC at 9 p.m. on Thursdays. (Reruns air on Black Entertainment Television.) The show is in its third season and stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, a character loosely based on real-life press secretary Judy Smith.

According to the Nielsen, over 10 million people tuned in for its season premiere last October.

Several Middle College High School students seemed to prefer ‘Scandal’ over ‘The Haves and the Have Nots.’
